CD Player Stuck on Eject

Earlier this evening, my stock CD player just decided to spit out the CD I was listening to. I tried putting it back in, but it continued to reject the CD. After that, it just continues to run it's eject motor every couple of seconds with the message "Err" continuously displayed, whether it was turned on or not. When I got home, I rolled down my window, turned the truck off, got out, locked it, and listened. It was still running its eject motor even though there was no ignition and the CD player was completely dark. I took out the audio system fuse to try to keep it from running down my battery, but it still continued to run. Finally, I stuck a CD in there, which it rejected, but I left it hanging half way out and that got it to stop. I tried to see if that stopped it, but as soon as I took the CD out, it started again. Right now I have the CD in there keeping it quiet. Setup: stock CD player from an '01 Silverado LT. Is there any way to fix this or is my CD player shot?
