06 Silverado Z-71 High Idle

It's kinda tough getting the defrost to work right for the windshield in 20 degree temps. So, was wondering if there's a way to keep the truck on high idle past what seems like 45 seconds or so?

Is there a way you can have the ECM reprogrammed so you can put the truck on high idle longer?

 

I know Dodge with the Cummins engine allows you to push the cruise control button, which will engage a higher idle in park.

Im not 100% sure, but from what I gather the GM gas engines do not have an elevated idle warm up function. For 2006 GM put this feature in the duramax diesel only. It works by resticting the exhaust flow. I havent heard anything about GM having it in the Gas Engines. I know my 06 sierra w/ the 5.3 doesnt.

Right, the diesels have this feature but no way to implement on a gas motor... at least not by the dealer. There may be some aftermarket thingy that will do it.
