engine heater

Anyone have their engine heater not work. I plug it now that it's below 0 at night and it doesn't seem to be working. I had it plugged in for over a day and it started like it was never plugged in. It has worked in the past, but not now.

 

Also, my rear defroster works, but not the mirrors. What gives?

Plug in the other end of the cord!

 

Seriously, just double check that you have power all the way out to the heater plug, just in case.

 

Use an ohmmeter to see that you have continuity between the two flat prongs on the truck, infinite resistance means there is a break somewhere.

 

Also, you are due for a coolant flush, if everything has checked out okay you might want to remove the heater element to make sure the coolant has not gunked up around it.

Actually the first time it didn't work I questioned myself on plugging it in, but it was.
