Helm service manual

I ordered a service manual for my truck from Helm and it arrived today. I did not expect a 10 inch thick stack of four books the size of my local phonebook each! There seems to be a wealth of information here and a lot of diagrams and illustrations. Looks like it was worth spending $ 140 on.

Last time I ordered a set of those, I went into severe information overload every time I cracked one open.

I've got a set for both my Sierra and my wife's Envoy. I found my set to be invaluable when I hooked up the remote start system on my Sierra over the weekend.

I picked one up off of Ebay 2 years ago for $1400 with the 32 mb card - best money I've ever spent for automotive tools. I've got a buddy at a dealership who will update it for me if I ever need it. My current software is good thru 2004 and the newest vehicle I work on is my Dad's 2004 C5, so I'm good to go right now.

The price of the Helm is somewhat shocking initially. THat is until they arrive. I too was impressed with the sheer size. In the 6 years I have had my truck, I have consulted the manuals at least 50 times. You could probably tell all the things I have worked on by looking for the dirtier pages in the manuals

 

Invaluable for any maintenance including wiring IMO.

Wonder if they'd sell em cheaper with a group purchase? I know they'd be very valuable...just not affordable right now for me anyway.
