olson03 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 03 5.3, got the code a week or 2 ago, I went underneath and check all the connections, wiggled everything and the code went off! Hurray! came back on again a few days later. Since then the ses light has gone off and come on by itself a few times. I know that the 449 code points to the electrical components of the evap system. I imagine that its either the purge valve or the vent solenoid, I'm tempted to replace both. I'm just wondering what anybody else has done that has cleared the code. I'm also suprised that the ses light goes on and off, I thought that once it was set it stayed on until it was cleared. Comments or advice would be great, Merry Xmas!
ChevyTech007 Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I see many more vent solenoid go bad than purge solenoids. I would put a vent solenoid on and if that does not fix it, I would replace the fuel pressure sensor on top of the sending unit.
