Kenwood TV Tuner

Hey All

I currently have a Kenwood ddx7017 head unit in my 06 sierra crew cab. I would like to get the Kenwood TV Tuner and also the Blue Tooth adapter. I would like to know if anyone has these units in their vehicle or know someone that does. I am interested to see if the tv reception is very good and what kind of range you can get. I live in a town of about 65,000 people and there is a local ABC tv station. I have used "rabbit ear" antenas on tv's in this area and I can only get the local station clearly and some times I can get a couple of TV stations from Memphis, TN about 50 miles away. Is this the reception I should expect from the Kenwood unit and also if you move "rabbit ear" type antenas you get diffirent reception. If I am driving around will the reception constantly change as my truck faces different directions?

Any info would be appreciated.

I have tuners in both my car(clarion) and van(rosen). I live directly between two very large cities, maybe 25 miles from each. While i can watch them, they do fade. Going down hills or around corners will get you fuzz and static. I use them for football when i don't reach the bar before kickoff. I think the Rosen is a bit better with it's diversity antenna system but not by a lot. From what you describe i would expect only the one channel.

Scott im wondering the same thing im wanting to add that to my dnx7100. Have you installed it yet, does it work good for you?

And where are the antennas placed? Rear window? Are they very visible?

I also no this tuner will only work untill the they change to digital in Feb. of 2009. It showes on crutchfeild it will then need a converter box, witch I dont know if they sell yet, or will carry.

I had one in my truck with a Kenwood DDX7015, it worked, for the most part, great. Tampa, has quite a few local channels, so they all came in really good, until I head south and go out of range. I also had 1 in my wifes Explorer, heres got better reception due to the antenna location. I mounted mine in the back window, and you barely noticed them. I bought an aftermarket TV tuner to try with my Pioneer AVIC Z2, and it works just as good, some channels even come in better. I would recommend getting 1 if your interested.
