steering binding???

I have a 1998 GMC Sierra 4X4, and it has developed a slight binding feeling in the steering. For example, as I'm driving down the highway, and turn into a slight curve, it feels as though it is binding, and then pops free??? I checked the front-end out, and everything seems tight. I put new tie-rod ends on it a few months ago, and new lower ball joints, and an idler arm. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have a 2000 4WD Tahoe 5.3L 75,000mi with an intermittent steering problem.

The steering sticks or grabs then releases when turning to the left under certain conditions.

The problem occurs when traveling at 40mi and taking a gradual left turn and decelerating from a high speed to take a left hand turn.

I lubricated the font end, when it was up on jack stands I turned the wheels from stop to stop and appears to be fine.

I replaced the hand wheel speed sensor thinking it was acting up.

I took it into the dealer and they flushed the power steering, but the problem is still there.

They said the next step would be to replace the power steering box and power steering pump.

Could this be a spool valve in the gear box going bad?

Any ideas
