Speedo malfunction

Got a 04' Yukon SLT. Has 38K miles

Noticed since about 10K that if I was on the freeway and accelerated slowly, sometimes the speedo would flick to the next mph; as opposed to moving smoothly. For example: It would jump from 69 to 70 as opposed to smoothly moving from 69 to 70.

Then, at about 36,500 miles (figures right?) the speedo would drop below 0mph sometimes at a light. Then would not go over 25-40mph. So I'd be actually doing 50-55 with traffic and the speedo would register 30-35.

I could remedy the situation by pulling over, shutting the truck off, wait a 1/2 minute, and restart. All good.

Seems to only do it after it warms up. I think it is the cable ends (not sure which one though)... Anyone else run into anything like this? Anything special I need to check before I investigate into the cable?

I hate to say this but I had the flick problem you are describing in my 2003 silverado but I was lucky and made the dealer work on the flick under warranty. It ended up they replaced the whole guage cluster. The cluster had to be special ordered with my mileage at the time the cluster was ordered. I hope your idea works.
