Roady XT problems

I installed a Roady XT in my wife's blazer over the weekend. No issues on the install and it worked great. I got an optional auxilary adapter as her 2000 has the unused controls for the CD changer and hooked the reciver in through there.

Yesterday the reciever started having problems with intermittent signal. These are the same areas she drove through on Monday with no problem.

I called Called Delphi and spoke to technical support. They stated that does not sound like it is an issue with the antenna nor the installation of the antenna. He felt it was most likely a bad receiver. He said if the unit was within 30 days of the date of product receipt to contact XM as I got it through them.

I called XM support. They stated to try a refresh on the radio. If this does not work I have to call them back.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems and if so what was the fix? Do these receivers require a periodic refresh? The factory radio with XM in my truck has never experienced a problem.

Thanks,

Chris

Anyone...

I refreshed it last night, but I have my doubts that this will fix it especially after talking with the Delphi support people. This is kind of like calling a computer support line and the first thing they always tell you to do is re-boot, but this usually never cures the problem.

I guess we'll see when I get home tonight and ask her if it works again.

OK, so the refresh didn't work. I call the sh** heads at XM radio back and talk to someone else. They want to refresh the d**n thing again. After some arguing that I've already tried this 3 times and didn't fix it they agree to put in a trouble ticket to thier tech support and they'll call me.

In the mean time for the hell of it I pull the satelite antenna wire out and re-route (even though they told me it would make no difference). Well that fixed it.

BTW it's been over a week and still haven't gotten a call from XMRadio tech support.

Last night there was trouble of a different nature. The antenna stopped getting a signal altogether (rather than a weak signal). I pulled the magnetized sat antenna up and there was ice between the roof and the magnet (temperature dropped very rapidly). I removed the ice and now it's working again, but WTF. Are these d**n sat antenna's normally this sensitive?

Anyone out there with similar issues? Anyone know of a better antenna setup than the tiny magnetized one that comes with the radio? Maybe I'll give the manufacturer Delphi a call back as I was able to speak with their tech support right away and seemed much more knowledgable.

I'm really getting frustrated with all of the little glitches.

I've got mine on the inside right next to the drivers side visor of my Denali. It has never given me any problems. Try putting the antenna inside of your vehicle where it is close to the window? Hopefully that helps you out.

Yeah, I'm about ready to try that. Seems that anytime any amount of moisture gets between the magnet and the truck roof the antenna stops working.

Do you loose signal at all when you're driving in any particular direction (i.e. when the antenna looses sight of the sattelite)?

BTW 3 weeks and still no call from XM Radio. This is rediculous. No way to operate a business. Maybe I'll go with Sirius when the subscription runs out. Still can have the same problems, but maybe their customer service is better.

I have been down this road and I'm fed up with delphi's mini antenna. I posted before about my issue... I had 2 Roady's and now an XM commander. All have the micro-antenna and all 3 had the antenna die. Of course all 3 times has been after 1 year of purchase and delphi said I could mail it to them at my cost and they would charge whatever it took to fix. Cheaper to buy a new unit...

I'm now looking to buy the factory xm kit and mountable antenna in hopes that it will last.
