Leaking windshield

I have a 94 GMC Yukon GT. There seems to be some rust forming above the windshield, causing it to leak slowly. How hard would it be to replace it myself? I realize I would have to get rid of the rusty area and get new seals, but is it something that can be done in a day(8 hours). I need to replace the windshield anyway because of a crack in the lower right corner. Or would this be a heck of alot easier and/or more cost effective for me to take it to a body shop?

It only cost a little over 100$ on my S-10er. Is 8 hours of your time worth more or less than that? It took the guy about 1 hour to do mine. 100$ an hour, I'm in the wrong profession.

 

I would like to know how though.

I've got the tools (dad did windshields for a few years)...But I don't see me doing it on anything new. Todays vehicles count on the windshield as part of their structural rigidity...I don't want to screw that up.

 

Windshields are just one of those things that I'd rather pay somebody else to do.

 

But if you want to give it a shot...Be my guest, I'll let you borrow the stuff

It's usually easier just to have a glass shop do it. There's a place near me called S&H glass that put one in my truck for $125.

Thanks for the input everyone. I've decided to let a pro do it. If it only costs around $200, I would rather let someone knowing what they are doing put it in. Thanks.
