Replace Side Mirror Complete

So I busted up my mirror (glass and cracked the assembly). All mechanics work, but its a new truck and I can't bear with the damage.

I managed to find a source for a replacement assembly (complete) with the lowest possible price. It arrive today and I was all set to install tonight.

I open the box and I see the wiring loom as preconnected inside the mirror and the cabling is LONG.

I remove the triangle shaped mirror cover and start thinking of removing the three bolts, but notice the wiring runs INSIDE the door panel.

Oh, geez... what I thought would be a 5 min swap now seems to involve a complete removal of the door panel, wiring connectors, etc. I may even need to fish the loom through the door into the body.

Any suggestions on this? Can't I just remove the glass on the new mirror, disconnect the new loom and reconnect to my existing loom? This way I won't need to remove the door panel?

Is it risky popping out the brand new glass? I don't want to break off the connectors or crack it... that'd really bother me.

Thoughts, or is the door assembly really not so much to be concerned with. I just didn't want to get into a few hour ordeal tomorrow.

Bright and early I started this morning following instructions I found on a vendor site for camper mirror upgrades.

The instructions were straight forward: one screw beneath the door grab cover, one under the plastic cap on outside edge of door drim, one plastic retainer on inside edge of door drim and one under the door lock indicator (must pry from the outside edge first).

Having removed all four, the door trip lifted straight up and I found the wiring loom connected to the door control module. Two clips and the wiring routed easily out.

All in all, easier than expected. Took an hour going REALLY slow. Could likely do in 15min now.
