Remote -Start options?

I'd like to add a remote-start to my 2005 Sierra 1500. I have the factory remote keyless entry & would like to use that remote. I do not want *any* cutting or splicing of any factory wire. I would like to find a system - preferrably GM - that just plugs in & adds this capability.

 

Does something like this exist?

 

I've had aftermarket remote starts before - I'm pretty familiar with what that involves & the pros & cons - would like to keep it factory if possible.

Well, I saw a remote start as a factory option on the new body style '07. You may want to check if GM offers an accessory plug-in kit for GM trucks now.

The local dealer here now has flyers at their service counter letting customers know they do Remote Starters now and to ask for details. I'm also interested in geting one for my 2004, but it seems they are only doing them on the newer cars and trucks. Id be interested to see what you come up with. Let us know what you find!

to the best of my knowledge, in the past dealerships outsourced remotestart installs to highend stereo/alarm shops. Now I've heard that you can get it as a factory option, which means now they will have plug and play for newer (2007+)rigs. I dont think they have plug and play for pre 2007 vehicles. I installed an ultrastart 4465 2way paging alarm/remotestarter to my 2003 suburban 1500. Not hard at all. NO cutting of wires. I just strip the insullation (1/2" long section with razor knife carefully!!) from each wire I needed to tap into per instructions.I solder the r/s units wires to them and use a quality heat shrink to insulate. Interface with a gmdl-bp(bypasskit.com) to bypass doorlocks, and antitheft. easy. No issues after 3 years of use.
