Cab mounted lights

Hey y'all,

I just installed cab lights on the roof of my '02 Sierra 1500. They're wired up, ready to go, but realized with all the crap that's already in the cab (GPS, satellite radio, cell phones, etc) I don't want to put another switch in there! What I'd like to do is attach it to the switch, so that when the parking lights (some call them marker lights) come on, they come on with it, no extra effort required. When I started investigating this, I realized I have no idea what wire I'd need to tap into. I called Pacer (the mfr) who basically didn't help, and added that if I tap into that line, I could jack up the 'auto-on' function that uses the photosensor and turns on the lights when it's dark out.

I'd consider myself a weekend mechanic, but have never screwed with anything like this...any help is very appreciated!

All you'd really need to do is pull the switch out of the dash and find out what wire has power when the lights are on (should be the same wire both when the switch is turned AND when the auto lights turn on), and tap into that wire with a crimp-on connector. I THINK that would work...but I haven't played with these new trucks enough to know.

The socket where the roof marker lamps plugs in to is under the access panel at the far right (passenger) side of the dash board. Open the door, and there's a snap-open panel at the side of the dash, and one of the 6 sockets under there is the socket for the roof marker lamps. One of the pins in there gets activated with parking lights.

Sounds good...I had taken a look at the access panel, but don't have a way to identify which wire to tap into...anyone know where to find either a wiring diagram or what color that wire is? Thanks for the input!
