heater connection repair

Gentlemen,

 

This weekend the heater hose quick connect broke on my truck. I got her home by bypassing the heater no problem. The problem was how to get the ridiculous remains of the plastic qd off the heater core connection without destroying the core. This forum has previously stated to use a hacksaw blade to cut off the remains. This would work but all the tugging and vibration would put the core at risk.

 

What I did was heat the blade up with a propane torch and it just melted through the plastic in 10 seconds without damaging the core. This is a slick trick to keep in your thoughts if you ever have this problem.

Works on getting the plastic ring out of ujoints too (makes them tons easier to press out).
