Anyone putt REAL fog lights in the factory openings?

The OEM provided "bling" lamps are the worst POS I've ever had. Glad I didn't waste any money adding them (came as part of the package) as they are useless except for soccer moms wanting "four lights". They come with only 27 watt bulbs (the DOT allows TWO 55 watt lamps for auxillary lights, GM's butthead engineers must think we couldn't handle all that power) and the reflectors are a joke. I put larger lamps in and the reflectors started to melt. The lens fell off one now, so I want to put in some real fogs for actual inclement weather driving. I've had several pair of Hella 550FF and really liked them. Thing is, they are a bit bigger than the openings and I'd like to not have to chop it up if I can avoid it. Has anyone found QUALITY fog lamps that fit into the valance? Mine is the first generation... rectangular with the outside end rounded. I live in the salt belt so corrosion resistance is paramount. Who's got THE GOOD STUFF???? :)

Totally agree on the crappy fog lights. I put PIAA 520 Ionic lens fog lights in the stock openings. I removed the stock mount altogether and bolted the PIAA's into the bottom of the bumper using the hole that was there for the stock mount. No drilling needed. The airdam trimmed easily with a utility knife. I didn't want a bull bar or other light mount up front that would interfere with accessories on the front-mounted hitch receiver.

Since the lights are down low, I opted for the fog lenses instead of the clear driving lenses, but either would work, it's up to you. I used the stock wiring to power the relay that came with the kit, and the relay power comes off the main terminal block by the alternator.

I put some wally world specials in that kind of fit... I wanted YELLOW/AMBER fog lights as my main goal. I have another pair that I think will fit better, but since these would be the third pair I try I'm in no hurry to swap them out again.

Looks good....nicely installed. Far better than the useless stock ones.

Now I'm gonna have to change mine out this spring.
