Will removing tourqe management....

I need to know if by removing the tourqe management will help me out performance wise in the 0-60 range, acceleration and in the 1/4 mile?

Yeah, it should help a tad. Looks like you have an older one like mine. They didn't have as much tq. mgt. built in like the newer drive by wires do.

I did not think the "drive by cable" operated throttle body was capable of having torque management. When you pin it the TB is wide open.

It's done by the computer not mechanically. I believe it changes the timing.

The TB doesnt kick back from being wide open until you hit the top speed according to your speed governor. Say at 92-99 mph, the TB only opens to around 45% I think it was.

 

But yes TM kicks timing back in the negatives on take off until the 1400+ rpm range, then you see positive timing. I beleive peak timing * is in the 3300 rpm range, then it slooowly dropps until you get ready to shift. In the upper 4,000 rpm range timing gets thrown back, then before you shift it kicks timing back into the negatives. From 1800rpms+ until your getting ready to shift timing is good tho.

 

Edit: I saw this graph on a 6 liter a while ago, so its not 100% accurate, but its gotta be generally close to 5.3's/4.8'.

YES!!! As of right now you motor is actually making no power during the shifts.. get that cleaned up and you will see your time pick up.. You dont want to remove all of it if you are on stock tranny... 50% would be a good number and tell the tuner leave the transmission TM in it unless you plan on doing a shift kit / servo..

 

Doesnt matter if you have cable or DBW, the computer pulls timing during the shifts.. When tuning trucks I see -15 to -17 degrees timing during the shift.. Just taking 50 percent of the torque managment out makes a big difference.. Getting the truck to see a + degree of timing during the shift makes it perform totally different..
