Help...my radio all of a sudden has no sound?

Can someone please help me out here. I got in my truck last night and could not get my stock radio to have any sound what so ever. It comes on and I can go to different stations and the cd player works but I'm getting no sound at all. No static...no nothing.

 

What in the world could cause this?

 

It's a 2000 Chevy Z-71 by the way with factory radio

My 01 radio had the rear channels cutting in and out periodically. It ended up being the head unit. First time I sent it out, they could not find a problem since it was intermittent. Then I told them to run the radio for a while so it would get hot. Ended up it had a few cold solder joints. If you are good at electonics, you might be able to dis-assemble it and try to find any cold solder joints. If not, you could look into a replacement OEM online or replace the head unit with something better.
