2004 Silverado ABS Issue

Hello,

 

I have a 2004 Silverado Ext Cab Truck. The truck has roughly 52,000 miles on it. I am having a problem with the ABS Light and Emergency Brake Light coming on while driving. The lights and dinging sound comes on often but not all the time. It mainly happens when the vehicle is in motion (at no certain speed). If you power the vehicle down and restart it, the lights and sound clears. I have not noticed any strange things going on with the Break Pedal. Could someone please give me a little information on what they may think this is. I cleaned the grounds up that is below the driver door on the frame with a Dremel Tool and a wire brush adaptor. Thanks.

You need to have the codes pulled in the abs system for starters.

Can the codes still be pulled if the ABS/Brake Light is not on?

 

Codes are generally stored in the ECM and you can retreive them later unless you have cleared them intentionally. Hope this helps.
