Led Taillights - '03 Yukon

Hey all! I've been wanting to get some LED taillights for my 2003 Yukon SLT. I don't mean just bulbs, I mean the whole housing to replace my OEM tails.

Have any of you switched yours out or know someone who has? Where did you/they buy them? How well do they work? Are they reliable and going to last?

I'm a huge fan of the LED taillight look as on the Escalade and other Caddy vehicles. I've seen a few different styles and makes of LED tails and wanted to see what some of you have experienced with them.

If you have them on your ride could you get some pics of them installed and on at various states - i.e. park, brake, turn signal, etc.

Thanks in advance for the help...this is a great forum! I've learned quite a bit so far and found it interesting the entire time.

Well I'm wondering if the lack of response was because no one has experience or the right ppl just didn't see it. Since the o.p. was a few days ago I'm going to bump this up and see if anyone has any input...

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark.

I tried replacing my stock lightbulbs with LED lights a few years ago. I don't remember the brand that I used, but anyways it caused my cruise control to stop working.

According to the dealership, the LEDs were confusing the cruisecontrol unit in that it thought I was applying the brake all the time, and thus it would not activitate.

They must have been right as they put back regular bulbs and the cruise started to work again. That was a $100 mistake.

I'm sure there are types out there that will work, but just to give you a heads-up.

Wow, that's interesting. it's funny how one thing affects another.

I was more interested in replacing the whole tail light housing unit with ones that are LED. I've seen some online, on eBay, etc. but wasn't sure if anyone had much experience with these. I don't want to get them if they aren't good or will fail after a short time.

has anyone figured out a solution to this? to be able to run the LEDs and still have cruise?

what about putting a resistor in-line with the 'hot' brake wire? I'm calling the manufacturer of my LED taillights tomorrow, so I'll let you guys know what they say.
