Driving Lights Wiring Question

I'm going to add a set of Hella 500s to the bumper guard and I was wondering if any of you have just been able to splice them into the circuit on the factory driving lights?

That would be sweet to get them to come on at the same time and not have to mount a separate switch.

I also had the same question about putting some K/C lights on top of the bumper or some fog lights.

You need to use a relay. The additional lights wil draw too much power and could case a fire. Use the "splice" as the trigger on the relay and you will have the same effect safely.

I will wire the lights with heavy 12 or 10 direct to battery, then install a relay somewhere handy and splice the hot wire on the factory driving lights and use that to close the relay.

That way the Hellas will be as bright as possible also.

Just don't forget to protect that line with a fuse as close to the battery as possible.
