I would love to find the person that did this. It happened on Thursday last week and of course no one saw anything. I am now the proud owner of $1,100 worth of damage to my truck and I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! Yep, my insurance will cover it but it still comes out of my pocket none the less! I work on a military base and it happened on base but I can't have the base cover my deductible because there were no witnesses.

How it happened...

I went to a doctor's appointment on base and when I came outside, this other car was parked so close that I could barely get in. Anyway, I was in a hurry so I just jumped in and then went to my local dealership to order a new factory fog light because mine was cracked. While standing at the parts counter, the parts guy commented on how nice my truck was. I turned and looked out the window and said thanks when I noticed something didn't look right. Needless to say I lost my F#@!ing mind right there in the parking lot. I called my insurance company (which rocks) and they told me not to worry about filing a police report since they would mark it up as a HIT AND RUN.

Do any of you think I can have these dents popped out using that paintless dent repair process? I have an appointment here in San Antonio with one of those businesses this week. The only part I don't think they can fix it right at the end of the cab where the Di@%Head hit the truck the hardest.

I think I can buff out the scratches but I think I will have to have some body work done by the rear of the cab. Man, what I would give to find this a$$ Clown :D so we can chat about him/her paying for my repairs.

Total Damages to Truck: $1,100

Paying the deductible:$250

Finding the person who did it:PRICELESS!

I really hate when people do that...I generally try to find a cluster of empty spots and park there, and when I get back there's a bunch of crappy vehicles around it...I can park way out in the back of a huge mall parking lot and still have someone parked painfully close to my door. One time I could barely open it up enough for me to get in. Sometimes I feel like getting my crowbar out and giving them a nice door dent. It's hard enough trying to get out of most places with my CCSB (153" wheelbase, painful) but when people decide to park so that I only have 4" of clearence, that gets me mad enough that if they happened to come out I'd give them a piece of my mind.

pops a dent will work on that first one after a few pulls (just follow the directions) But the dent at the back of the cab will need work.

I dont even think pop a dent will work on the door eather, its pushed in pretty far and the metal is no dought streched so if it does come out it will still have a wavy look to it now on the cab body work will need to be done there.

Sorry for the damage........some folks don't care about your vehicle or thiers ! I , too, try to park away from others or in spots where only one vehicle can park next to it. Once a car parked so close to my Z28 I had to come in thru the passenger door ! But no matter what your precautions are, they will still get you somehow ! So, when i go to crowded lots like Wal Mart, the wifes bug always gets the duty :banghead:

ahhh that sucks man. I hate people that cant park right and dont care about other peoples vehicles, or their own & dont care what happens.

Update...

Well the dude at a local paintless dent repair is a miracle worker (at least for the large dent in my door). It looks like it never had a dent. I will try and get some pics of the door soon. He only charged me $150 and he worked on it for about 4 hours. I actually gave him $160 cause it looked great!

As far as the dent in the rear of the cab, well it looks like I can either pay about $400 for a body shop to fix it or deal with it. I guess I can consider myself lucky for living in San Antonio since I have owned my ride and only came away with this F#%KING dent

My buddy says it gives the truck character but I think it looks like a huge scar or battle wound! Anyway, I think I will leave it there to remind me how many D&%KHEAD's there are in this part of the world and hey, I still think my ride looks great anyway for a 7-year old!

Thanks for the support and if I ever find the person who did it, I will gladly have a nice conversation with them regarding their disregard for other people's things. :nono:

I can only hope I can talk to this person before I leave Texas for good! I'm about to move to North Georgia for a new job and cannot wait!

I frequently carry a stick welder/ generator on my truck and had to run into a local big box store to get a few things. When I came out I had a car parked next to me about 5 inches away from my drivers door. Well lets just say that the passenger door on that Toyota is not going to open anytime soon. HEHE

I'm so happy you were able to get it fixed up. I had some jackasses scratch my passenger door right down to the metal getting into their vehicle. I could not be more pissed. It will cost me a $300 deductable

I absolutely hate it when stuff like that happens. I've never had damage like that but I have a handful of small dings down the side of my truck. I'm always wishing I can catch somebody in the act, some poor bastid is going to reap the reward!!

Another thing that gets me is rogue carts left in the parking lot because the bastards were too lazy to push it 30 feet away to the cart return - really chaps my hide. Someone who leaves their cart in the lot may have a shopping cart projected into their vehicle by my truck as they leave someday.

Ok, gotta calm down... breathe..... LOL

Glad you were able to get everything fixed up.

KILLIN' is too good for anybody that would do that and then leave.

I know this is old, but as I look at the dent in the door, it's easy to see that the pressure point holding the dent in is at the bottom. After the tech carefully removed the pressure, the entire area of the dent lifted itself. Then he only needed to work the perimeter to remove any waviness that was left. A pops a dent would have made that worse. People always go right for the center of the dent when they try to push it back out from the inside. Doing that makes the damage worse because the pressure is still being held at the bottom. Glad you didn't attempt to push it out yourself. If doing dent repair was so easy, everybody would be doing it. You need to know how metal flows and what's holding what in place.

As for the rear dent, that too is doable. It won't be 100%, but can be gotten to 90% with the right technique. In this case, the tech should start working at the deepest part of the dent and work outwards slowly. I would say that the dent here could easily require 500 pushes or more to lift the deepest part. If not done correctly and they try pushing too much too fast, the paint "WILL" crack where it's buckled at the top right nearest the rear of the cab. This is a pressure point, but because the metal is tight, it needs to be moved slowly.
