Tires Rubbing

Hey Guys and Gals I just put a set of Structure Rims and Toyo 305/45/22 tires on my 03 Suburban and I am getting a rubbing on the plastic that is on the backside of the bumper. Has anyone else experienced this?

 

Do I have to cut the plastic out?

How much backspace are you running on those rims?

The offset is 10mm. There is only one spot where it rubs. It is on the driver side just behind the bumper. The inner well sticks out farther oh that side and I am not sure what is behind it. (Have not pulled it off) All the other wheels are fine and this one only rubs a little one turns but it is noticeable.

 

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also is it true you can adjust the computer for big wheels to obtain better gas milage? Any other benefits if this is true?

I don't think you're going to obtain better gas mileage but you should be able to correct your speedometer/odometer readings.

First thanks Bossier62guy I will swing by the dealer and see what is involved for them to do that.

 

Scott I just put the 22's on yesterday I had 20's on there prior. As far as braking yes it slows braking down a little but not much, it does not come off the line as quick as it did (Honestly though it is a suburban with a 5.3, how quick would it really be?) Gas I have not had them on long enough to tell, but my 20's did not impact that too much. The ride is great. Actually my 20's had Eagle GTII on them and the ride was not great. These Toyo's are fantastic, not near as bumpy no shake or wobble. These wide tires regardless of brand do track the road so you do get some drift once in a while. Otherwise they just plain look great.

 

I still need to figure out why that inner fender plastic right near the bumper comes out so far and my rubbing issue will do away.

I installed 24"X 10 with 305/35/24 I had the same problem took it to the dealershis's custom shop and they told me that they use a propane torch and heat up the metal behind the plastic and hit it with a mallet that way there is no cutting involved I did mine yesterday.
