Vehicle Maintenance Why Its Important

Recommended Posts

Well I decided its about time for a new air filter (roughly 20K miles and 2 yrs since I changed last time) on my impala. Gas milage is consistant 22-27 mpg depending on city or hwy.

Look at this filter. Plus found an extra surprise a plastic bag was sucked in. I cant believe I was getting 24-25 miles a gallon lately.

Just a friendly reminder to not overlook regular maintenance (Dont worry maintenance on my truck is done on a more regular basis)

Wow :driving:

That's pretty grubby!

The filter on my SS gets pretty foul in about 8k miles for some reason. May be the sorta-ram-air thing causing it.

I just checked my truck today since it has been about 7K miles since I put in the K&N filter. Not hardly anything. Took an airhose and blew some of the small dust balls off and hit it with a light oil mist.

I also changed my cabin filters in my truck (been almost 3 yrs since I did that last) and they were pretty dirty some leaves and junk was in there.

I can't either, is there a setting I need to change?

From what i can tell, only other mods can see the pics. Normal users always get an error message it seems.

Wow, I'm surprised you were getting any reasonable mileage at all as it looks like that plastic bag was covering about 3/4 of the filter for a significant amount of time. I guess if it's mostly highway driving you're really not pulling all that much air into the engine, but still that's crazy.

Was it bogging down when you get into the throttle?

Car ran great never had an indication of the bag. I never seen a dip in milage. On the last tank (90% was with the old filter) iI got almost 27 mpg.

Hopefully itll get better if not the bag is going back in hehe

Wow, thats a new one... I work in a chevy dealership and I see stuff like this all the time.

I've seen mice living in airfilter boxes, even those pesky squirrels get in there.

Then you get the one's where the filter is blacker than black and when you try to sell the customer a new one they think your just trying to rip em off. So they go for another 20k miles with a filter that doesn't...filter anything. Some people just dont care about their cars.
