So I changed my oil tonight, figured why not give it a try. After reading some reviews on it I figured I may as well.

 

I'll give it a couple tanks of fuel to see if it helps there. I don't notice a power gain yet, but I did just come from a 4 cyl car to the truck, so the power is still new to me, and even if i did pick up a couple hp I don't think you would notice it anyway.

 

I have noticed however that Oil pressure is higher when I have my foot in it, and its more stable when cruising.

 

I'll write back tomorrow after I Get home from a trip to look at a dog I may adopt. Its going to be about a 200km trip, almost all highway, I'll see if I notice anything and get back.

sounds good. I used to dump 6 quarts of that into my '01 F150 and it made a slight difference in power, was a little quicker whgen I used to race around.

So I just got back, I have a new puppy, and i burnt less than a 1/4 tank on the 200 km trip so I averaged about 27 mpg highway. my usual was about 23-25mpg there was a lot of up hill driving as well, so it seems like it may have actually made a difference. I noticed that my temp gauge never went over 100*C though, so there is definitely some truth to the heat claim

Thats awesome, I think i'll be switching this truck to royal purple on the next change. My computers engine oil life is down to 40% and I put in mobil 1 about 2500 miles ago, whatever oil was in it before lasted way longer before it even went down to 40%.

I don't have an OLM, only when I need to change the oil it tells me, but I change it every 3K miles anyway. But RP says it will last to 5K miles, Think I should let it go that long??

Your using a superior oil than what the OLM was even designed for....go til it tells you for sure.

Is this what you guys do for maintenance?

 

I'm just form the old way of OCI every 3K miles, I figured 50% more or so would be a good estimate for this oil.

 

I have read reviews about the additive (molysolids) not being good for the engine if they were left in too long.

 

 

What do you guys think??

I still try to change my oil at the 3000 mark, it just makes me feel better.

 

Let me know how the RP works in your truck.

I had RP in my LS1 and loved it!

 

I may have to try it in my truck.

So, after a few days of driving I have noticed that the truck idles a lot smoother and there is less valve train noise. The temps are still down, and my oil pressure is a few notches higher.

 

I still haven't noticed a diff in power but as I said before I don't think I would notice the couple HP it does free up.

I'll be with you here in a few weeks maybe, my OLM is showing mid 40's. I gotta order online tho, only place near here that sells it is a Pep Boys who prices that stuff like it's gold. It sounds pretty good though!

I used 5W30. Thats what the engine calls for.

 

 

I like it so far, I have noticed a little increase in power, or so it seems. It seems like it pulls a little harder from a stop now. I really have no comparison so don't take my word on that one. My ass is not a very well calibrated dyno. Fuel seems to be getting better though...getting about 30-40 more km per tank.

I ran it to 5k miles in my old F150, never hurt it & it ran great, soon i'm due for an oil change so i'll be pouring RP in it.

It calls for 5W-30 but that is only for warranty conditions.

 

Once your warranty is up or get close to 80-100K miles you can switch to 10W-30. even better if you have hot summers.

 

I noticed less drivetrain noise when switching to the thicker oil.

 

Once your motor gets broke in and has higher miles on it its ok to use a thicker oil.

For some reason, If I use something other than 5w30, my check engine light comes on. Was in a bind for time once & had the oil changed at one of them oil change joints...they used 10w30 by mistake & it set the light off about 5 miles later. We like to have never figured out that the oil set off the light. Took it back & had them change it again with 5w30 & that took care of it.

 

Anyone else had that happen?

      Because single shot injectors are ancient and multi hole injectors provide smoother running engines and sharper throttle response due to the fuel being atomized better..the best lead I have is a 24lb blue top injector almost everything matches up but the injector will put out about 26lb/hr which is just outside the gm threshold.figured id ask here to see if there was an absolute answer

      Why is my question?   Any change in injectors requires a tune. Unless you are going back with the OEM part number or a newer part number of that same injector.   Any size difference or type difference like the EV6 style injectors all have different injector data for them. And there is no EV6 injector that matches the factory 25 lb/hr size that your truck comes with. I've been messing with these trucks and tuning them for a long time and what you trying to do doesn't exactly make sense to me.

      My 6.6 gas lt8 had lifter noise with 28000 miles bought new 2026 and while driven to dealer it threw #1 rod bearing “HD my ass” good luck with yours i hope it don’t turn a rod bearing!

      Thought it was raining this morning when we woke. Nope. Dew point was over 80 F and humidity 98%. Zero visibility distance. Everything was 'sweating'. I've seen rain come out of clouds but never out of Pepper or the tree trunks.    Wicked storms just missed us sliding off to the east but by blocks. Heat index about 110 F with air temp in the 90's.    This is  our third wave this month of multiple days of this type of weather. And yet the grass is going dormant and the ground is cracking this side of the street and water up the the hood opposite. Just weird stuff going on.
