Who's Knows Something About Door Handles And Locks?

Well, my Sub was violated on Saturday night at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio. Thieves attempted to break in via the driver's side door with some type of tool. They failed, but they screwed up the door handle and the lock pretty good. Not to mention, putting a nice little ding under the handle and into my door, too. The trim around the handle is peeled back around the lock, and they broke their tool off in the lock.

Any idea of the cost associated with fixing this? Insurance deductible is $500.

The bright side of all this is that they failed at getting in and scoring a jackpot in radar detection, GPS, and if good enough, a Glock 23 locked in a gun safe mounted in the center console. I don't normally keep all these things in the truck overnight but it was raining like crazy and I slacked. Never again - I was "lucky", the two trucks beside mine were emptied out.

Anything you can share is appreciated. Thanks.

It's hard to say without seeing a photo, my guess including the body work is approx $675.00

I've got these in both my trucks and should stop them from busting in the way they tried in your truck.

Yes, I've used Jimmi Jammers on past trucks and they offer an extra level of protection, but JJ's still can't prevent them from screwing up the lock cylinder and door handle - as in my case.

$250 to repair according to my service estimate. It could of been worse, though. If they wanted in bad enough they could of just broke the window. I guess I had a bunch of considerate thieves working on my Sub that night. I would like to thank them in person.

sorry to hear bout the truck!! people these days are simply amazing... , my dad's a pipefitter and on all of their rigs (2500 Chevy Express work trucks) they have this awesome bolt system, when he hits the locks on his truck steel bolts latch the doors to the body of the truck, makes trying to break in and steal thousands of dollars worth of equipment useless!! the jimmi jammer should do the trick though but like you said if they want to they can just bust the window... good luck with the repairs and all!!

steve
