07 Denali Exhaust

My brother in law just bought an 07 Denali a couple of weeks ago. When he showed it to me this weekend, I was impressed with the sound from his stock exhaust. I have an 02 Yukon with a 5.3 and has a stock exhaust as well. My exhaust is very quiet compared to the Denali's. Is it the stock muffler in the Denali that gives it the sound, or the 6.0 engine? Also, can I put this same exhaust on my 5.3 and duplicate this sound?? I think this would be an easier sell to my wife.

Thanks

the sound is likely a combo of both:

- the denali has a 6.2 versus your 5.3

- the denali has 'higher' performance exhaust

The 10.5 compression ratio on the Denali has a lot to do with the sound. You can stick a Borla or whatever on a 5.3 or 6.0 and it'll sound deep but it won't make the same sound.

The original poster only stated that the vehicle was a '07 Denali so we don't know if it was an SUV or pick-up but him stating that it had a 6.0 would lead me be believe it was a ’07 Sierra Classic Denali.

In regards to the sound, my guess would be the majority of the exhaust sound is a result of the muffler, not the motor due to the fact that there is a distinct "Denali" sound and the Denali lineup came with a 5.3 (Envoy), 6.0 (Sierra Classic) and 6.2 (NBS Sierra and Yukon) with 2 different hp/torque configurations in MY 2007.

I work at a dealership and have noticed that all the GMT-900s have a much throatier sound then my '05 with a 5.3. All the techs say it's mainly because of bigger pipe on the nbs.

I installed a Volant 15253 intake kit, and it makes the throaty V8 sound much better than it already was! If you like that stock sound, and want even more bawlz when you step on it, the Volant is the ticket.

Hey Quick question,

I have an 07 Yukon 5.3l., just bought it two weeks ago. I thought the stock muffler was right at the very end of the tailpipe but crawling under I noticed the muffler was more in the middle of the truck. So what is the "mini muffler" right at the end. Also, can it be taken off and just extend the tailpipe with chrome tip or something.
