Both are great trucks, but if money was the main concern you can't go wrong with the Classic. Its a proven setup, granted it has some limitaions, but has proven to be a real strong setup. As for the NBS only being able to run new fuel is BS.

NBS. Much more modern truck. Will hold it's value for longer. If he wants an OBS and must save money, then get a used 05-06 DMAX. Same thing as an 07 Classic, just way cheaper.

There is no BS involved in having to run the new ultra low sulfur fuel in the 07 trucks, the diesel systems have changed drasticly and if you run the old fuel, you will destroy these systems. If you look at the tailpipes on all of the 07 diesel trucks, even fords, you will see that the tips have intercoolers on them, because the exhaust has a particulate filter in them that it will clean it self when needed and the intercooler is necessary because when the cleaning process is started the exhaust gasses are extremly hot and could even start a fire. Ford even had a stop sale order on the early 07's due to fires being started when the truck started the cleaning process.

I know that the NBS have a new particulate filter that when it gets "filled" will burn-off and clean itself, but the engines still can run regular diesel. Not all places have the low sulfur stuff yet. CA is the only state that makes it manditory as of 2006. The other big time/date is 2010. So as of right now it is manditory that all the pumps that have low-sulfur Diesel have a sticker on them saying that is what is at that pump. I have not seen these stickers on the pumps in my area. You have to think about it, if you are saying that the NBS trucks can only run the low sulfur fuel, what happens when they get to an area that does not have it? Does that mean they just run out of fuel? Also you can't tell me all the NBS D-maxs that are headed for Alaska are different(Alaska has a extention to the whole 15ppm exhaust). I know that the exhaust systems on the trucks have been reworked alot, but the engine itself will not be distroyed by using regular diesel. I am sure the new low sulfur stuff is good to keep the particulate matter lower, but I have also heard that you get lower milage with it. I have seen the NBS D-maxs in my area fill up at the same stations as before and have never heard of any issues. And since I do not have a NBS D-Max and am not a Tech for GM I could be missing alot. So maybe some Diesel techs can better answer the issue??
