Laptop Mount In Your Truck?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have a mount in their truck that they use to mount their notebook or tablet PC? The only descent one I've seen is the Ram Mount, but if you have a center console it sorta blocks a bit of the passenger seat.

Anything recommended, got some pics, etc?

Just thought it might be nifty to mount a notebook and use it for music/video playback and just plug it into the the A/V jack on the rear-dvd system.

Those ram mounts work great. I dont have one in my truck, but we use them in the HumVees that we build for work.

they do take up quite a bit of space, but if you get the right mounting balls and arms they can be moved around alot and removed when not in use.

If you get the chance look inside a police car, they use the same ones for their laptops.

ive been thinking of puting something in my work truck as well.... i use my laptop for work testing radio signal and it would be nice to have it where i can see it when im doing that.... im planning on just building a table like contraption to sit on my center console. it will be removable and probably be wraped in some kind of no slip rubber or something... if i ever get around to building it i will be sure to post some pics

The RAM Mounts have so many different mounting options. Many will attach at one of the seat bolts in the floor with an arm that movable to wind up with the laptop wherever you want it. They also have the arm that holds the screen in place, a very nice add-on as well.

Well, I'm still thinking about it. Already have a Dell Latitude D400 w/ an audigy card that'd work perfect in the truck. I'd just have to take it out anytime it would be sitting in a parking lot. But if I do get the Ram, I'll post some pics.

www.havis.com is a Philadelphia Area manufacture for police but they have distributors all over.

The rams are nice and will be switching to them for my next vehicle since Havis does not have tablet mounts.

I got tired of having my laptop in the passenger seat, so I removed my stereo and installed a screen there, the computer is in the mid center console, between the top console and the bottom part.

Clicky clicky

If you have any questions about it or the setup, you could let me know. There are lots of other ways that you can do stuff like this too. Some are not soo in depth and some that make this look like nothing.
