What can I do besides a lift kit to make my truck look a little bigger and tougher? A better stance.....?

What size of tires? Aren't 285 just wider than a 265 or is it taller too?

If they are the same profile and rim diameter, the 285 will be wider and taller. Ex. 265/70R17 and 285/70R17

It is. 285 is 285mm in width. The /#(example 285/75) is the aspect ratio of the tire sidewall height. The example being 75% of 285mm or 213.75mm. The higher the %ratio the taller the tire.

Go with an aggressive looking tread on the tire as well like a BF Goodrich T/A KO. IMO the tread pattern on that tire makes them look bigger and meaner.

 

Depending on the lift you could go even bigger, if you are in fact doing a lift.

Get Some big towing mirrors like the ones that come on the new Dmaxs and then i would say get some fender flares.

Body color fender flares are a good idea. Body lifts are pretty cheap and easy to do.
