Factory Frame Coating

So after rotating my tires on the truck for the first time, i have no realized that whatever chevrolet is using to coat the frames is complete garbage.

Anyone have any idea what this crap is? You can scrape it off with your fingernail and its almost like a black shoepolish/wax. The places on the frame that I jacked it up from are now completely bare metal because all that crap came off on the wooden block between my jack and frame.

Also ive noticed that there is surface rust starting to form everywhere.

Rack up another one for GM.......Wonder if they will re-coat the frame under warranty as its a corrosion issue.

Anyone?

Nah, i was only banned for a few days. I have been on the SS forums, I have a different name there that ive used for years. Anyways, lets not stir the pot again as I come in peace this time, not to just try to open the minds of biased people, ive givin up. Looking for a real answer here.....whatever they use on the frame really is crappy, ive never seen anything like that.

And what would you suggest coating the frame with? Paint? The reason they use non-hardening wax is because after it takes a hit from a rock or other road debris, it "flows" back and recoats the frame. Paint and other hard coatings simply would chip and flake off, leaving bare metal.

PS Do you ever have anything positive to say about your GM truck? Why do you own one (if you even do??) if it sucks so bad and all you ever do is bitch about it? Go buy a Blundra if GM sucks so bad.

Flow back? How is somthing going to "Flow back" when its on the wooden block i jacked the frame up with. Seriously, im looking for a real answer not a GM nutswinger answer here. Both Dodge and Ford use a hard coating and it DOES NOT chip easily. My dodge was 2 years old when i got rid of it and had no rust on the frame, this truck is a year old and has surface rust everywhere. Im gonna call chevy tomarrow and see if they will re-coat it as it is a corrosion issue.

I know you like to throw out your .02 cent comments because you dont like me but if you dont have somthing intelligent to say, dont say anything.

Im trying to be civil here, dont just drop in and attack my thread because you dont agree with finding flaws with your precious chevys. If you want to let your truck rust away, be my guest. Im trying to find away to make sure that doesnt happen.

Sure I have tons of positive things to say about the truck but thats not what im here to talk about. Im here to talk about the defects and how to resolve them. I find no pleasure in circle jerking with a bunch of guys over our trucks, i want to resolve the problems I have with it......

Hmmm, that's odd, my 2000 had the same wax coating and after 8 Minnesota winters, no rust at all??? Yet yours is rusty after 1 year....yeah, sure it is.

So, what is this "hard coating" that you claim is so great? Must be pretty f'in hard to resist rocks and road debris. Titanium? Cobalt? C'mon, I wasn't born yesterday. Hard coatings chip, period.

How come I have never heard of frame rust issues in all the years GM has been using this coating? Have you ever heard of any frame corrosion failures on any GMT400 or later truck? I didn't think so.

You claim to "come in peace"...BS!!! Go to TN or TS, I am sure they will LOVE to hear you bitch about your GM. We don't want to hear your BS. Real issues are one thing, but concocted crap like this is another.

BTW, if you practiced what you preach about intelligent comments, your wouldn't be able to say anything.

And just how does coming here bitching about bogus issues resolve anything?

That's enough...He asked a question and is getting trolled.

No more posts about anything but answering his question. THAT'S IT.

I did answer his "question" and he called me a "GM Nutswinger" for it. And it was the correct explanation.

He asked a bogus question. I've never seen any GM truck with the wax coating having corrosion issues. Yes, it flows back, and just because Ford and Dodge may use a different coating doesn't make it any better.

Dude, shut the Fvck up. All you do is defend your precious chevy trucks no matter how small the issue is. You are a GM nutswinger, plaing and simple. If you dont have somthing constructive to say about the thread, get the fvck out. There is rust on the frame and its not just mine. I drove past a dealer today and looked a a few NBS trucks and they all have the same rust forming underneath them. As far as the hard coating, its an epoxy based coating, very hard and durable. Go look at any dodge or ford, you will not find a coating you can scrape off with your nails.

Now if your done running your mouth about things you obviously know nothing about, id like to get some real constructive answers from people that have noticed the same issue.

You are the one acting like a child here.

Fine, I gave you my answer....Let's see how many other "constructive" answers you get from here on out...ok? Good luck!!!
