Denali Mpg With The 6.2/6spd?

I have the '07 Blk/Blk shorty Denali and this baby loves gas. Hmmmm........6.2L V8, all aluminum block and puts out around 400 horse. No straw sucker here, it's a garden hose when your on it. Best I have gotten is around 14mpg around town, maybe 16mpg Hwy. I have to tell you though, even with the A/C on full blast this truck can move when it wants to. This is the best full sized SUV/Power ratio out there, unless you count the overly blinged Escalade.

The six speed tranny is good but let it do its thing before you jump on it. Example: If your in reverse and slide it into drive and get on it before it has shifted all the way it makes unhappy sounds. The sixth gear is great on the highway but bogs down a little on the surface streets, overall I still like the ride and the stock exhaust rumble is nice. So far I have no regrets since 12/06. Good Luck!

Thanks Lerenis. Yes, loved the sound of the exhaust from the Denali.

And seeing 14 / 16 MPG shouldn't be much different from wife's current ride -- 03 Z-71 Burban with 5.3 and 3.73's. She's knocking down around 14 MPG and 16-17 highway.

And that is still better than the 11 / 13 MPG I get from my 8.1L/CC/HD-4x4.

My dad is getting near 60k miles on his 07 denali, been a great vehicle thus far. He's seeing 14-15 around town 16-18 on the highway. The 6.2 is a beast. Our only complaint is the the 6sp tends to shift tooo much with the cruise on. Without cruise on the interstate it never downshifts, with cruise it is constantly downshifting. This seems to be a problem with programming imo, but honestly it's not that big of an issue. The denali is without a doubt the nicest blend of suv on the road currently. Great ride, power, fuel economy, etc. My fiance whines for one every time she drives my dads. In my case 50k would be better used on paying off my house. :)

My NBS 2007 Sierra Denali is getting over 18 mpg. Highway mpg at a little over 70 mph is over 19 mpg. Total mpg for my truck since the day I drove it off the lot (4300 miles) is 17.4 mpg! I am a conservative driver with about 10% of my travel in city traffic, the rest is intersate or state highway. I drive conservatively and use 93 octane gas.

The Denali has made passing folks on the 2 lane roads way too much fun! The 50 to 80 stuff is going to get me a ticket; I enjoy driving the Denali almost as much as I did my Corvettes.

Wife's close to getting the Denali. Wondering what kind of MPG we might see from this beast? Thanks, D.

Getting 14.2 miles per gallon town and country. Getting 13.1 city driving only.

Average on highway only has been 16.3.

This is will an extremely light foot and tipping in to accelerate. The transmission is going crazy and not shifting well at all due in part to my very light foot. It is a terrible clunking adaptive learning torque control transmission, with sometimes violent downshifts and rough upshifts acommanied with unintended engine acceleration as drive by wire system attempts to raise RPM's to match gears. Totally failed system that really does not work.

The dealers have verified that GM is in over their heads with computer problems with the new 6 speed transmission and they have no fix for it.

Owners of these new Denali trucks must suffer. Thank you Mr. GM for screwing us all.

Transmission failure is caused mostly by backing up & shifting to Drive while still moving back wards. All the components are going under undue stress and the clutch plates & planetary gears take the brunt of it.

If you want long lasting transmissions stop this habit.

Ask any qualified transmission tech.
