I am looking into several older models with the 5.7 L. One is a 99 2 door tahoe 4x4, a 92 1500 2wd, and a suburban 1500. I would also appreciate opinions on good prices for these vehicles, and problems I might come across if I get one. Thanks in advance.

I have the 5.7L in my 98 sierra and its been a good motor only have 160,00km on it though so its pretty low. I bought it 3 years ago with about 116,00km The one thing that i'v had to replace was all the O2 sensors. I also had to replace the starter, besides that its ran great. I think the general rule is somewhere in the 200,000 to 250,000 the tranny will generally go depending on how hard it was worked in its life. And as far as the different years i believe in 96 they went to the vortec engine so 96-98 will have more power then the 95 and previous 350s....

The 5.7 is a great reliable motor. We have never done anything to our 91' halfton and it has been worked pretty hard pulling loads of seed way to big for a halfton.

If you are looking for an older truck you'll have to look for other things other than the motor.

Anyway, good luck with your choice.
