What Lift Is Best For Me?

I don't know what I need. I'm looking for some suggestions/advice. My truck is a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 and is my daily driver. I spend 90% on road and 10% off road. The off road driving is just mild trails/mud pits. I don't want the on road handling/ride to suffer greatly from the lift. I am not sure if I need a lift kit or just a body lift. I don't know what a good tire size would be to use with the lift either. I would like to use my stock wheels for now, so whatever tire size suggested just know that they will be mounted on the factory wheels. I was thinking just a front leveling kit with a body lift and larger tires will do the truck, no? I would like to keep the cost down as much as possible. School is starting soon and working during school gets pretty crazy. What are your suggestions for my type of driving?

I know with the 2wd the Fabtech 3" asks for 265's on the stock rims. Same with the CST spindle kit. Dunno if that helps for your 4wd though...

listen ive been in the 4wd world all my life now as for the body Vs. Suspension go suspension there easier and cheaper to put on a good 3 inch body lift will cost you around 300 to 400 bucks and you dont want to go cheap on any lift if you get a cheap body lift from autozone your gunna run into problems with shift linkage and stearing linkage my best advice for yall is to invest in a 3inch suspension it will cost about the same as a body lift i suggest one from rancho skyjacker or fabtech all lifts are about the same just the price is the most different superlift is the most exspensive and fabtech comes in 2nd as for rancho and skyjacker there about the same price all a three inch lift is blocks and spindles so you wont sacrifice your ride quality and you can install it in a few hours but dont get addaleafs they mess up your leafsprings by bending them straight so make shure you get the blocks

A good set of 265-75-16 BFG All Terrain KOs and factory height will get you a lot of places in a stock Z71. Especially if you go to an 8 inch wide wheel instead of the factory 7 inchers. Unless you are intent on really deep mud or going over boulders, there isn't much need for a lift for light trail running or even medium duty off roading. You get to keep your nice factory ride too.

Heavy offroading or larger tires will require a little different take. Depends on what you want to do. A lot of lift and big tires will certainly drop your fuel economy and alter the ride/drive. Something worth thinking about if you daily drive your truck.

Most 4x4 lifts require changing the wheels. If you want to keep the stockers get a body lift and some 285/75/16 tires. You won't need anything more if you do light trail driving. I've been most places in a stock 01 4x4.

Are you wanting to go bigger or just get through the trails better? You didn't mention if you had a locker. If not that would be where I would put my money, if you go bigger and can't get the power to the ground it doesn't do much good. Plus it will help in bad weather on road driving and still keep your factory ride.

If you really want the bigger look go for the suspension, I personally don't like the looks of a body lift.
