ok ive got a 99 regular cab silverado....my setup is:

Eclipse Cd3000 deck

Kicker RS(200WMax) components in the doors

Infinity (135wmax) components on side wall All 4 amplified by a kicker 350.4 (359watts)

Kicker L7 15" 2kwMax( 6ft cubic airspace each sealed)setup for two but one presently--amplified by kicker 1500.1 (1705watts)

Now I have good Highs and good lows but im not sure if the kicker rs are putting out good mid-bass? What im thinking of getting is the 8'' Midbass Speakers by kicker...Im also wondering if they can be mounted anywhere like a sub or they should be just in the door?

Oh yea or will the 15" just over power these to the point of them being useless?

thanks

That specific midbass would require a properly sealed up door. Usually this involves some extra fabrication.

Also properly tuned the mid bass should compliment the sub bass, since they will be operating at different frequencies. Also the 8' driver would require a bandpass filter to work they way it was designed.

oh im all about fabrication ha ha thats how im getting two 15s in my cab. I was figuring id just run it off an amplifier and tune that. I still don't know if i should even bother if its going to be that much of an upgrade or if its worth it.

It would be an upgrade for sure, but there is more to it then just adding an amp. Mid-bass speakers are designed to reproduce a very specific frequency range. If you try to get the speaker to operate outside of those parameters, the sound can be highly distorted and muddy.

What you will need is a bandpass filter. A bandpass filter pretty much allows you to select what speaker plays a very specific frequency range. Midbass will 'generally' be around 80hz to around 150hz.

Since most subs are cut off at around 80, the midbass picks up where the subs leave off. Also this makes it that the subs are not overpowering the mid bass speakers because they are not playing the same frequency.

Thanks for the heads up I appreciate it. My stereo sounds clean right now id hate to do the midbass wrong. my sub says 100hz is the cut off so i guess it would help some. So do you possibly know any websites that sells them? Im not sure if kicker has them but thatd be nice.

Im thinking this one kicker kq30 equ but im not sure if this is what your talking about or not....here is a link to the speakers 8 midbass
