Looking To Buy Used 2500hd -gm Inquiry

Looking for things to watch for on a used 2500 HD with 8.1L vortec. Has 65,000 miles and it is an LS package.

 

Looks nice and drives nice. Dealer asking 20,800 Anyone have access to thw gm inquiry system

Also this vehicle appears to had a ball in bed of truck. Probably a 5th wheel hitch.

What makes you say it had a ball? Does it have several little holes in the bed or one big one?

i just bought a 2006 2500hd with the 6.0 for 17,500. but the miles are a little higher on mine, it has 93,000 on the odometer. it is also the ls package. i like it alot

That is what I was trying to get at. What I don't understand is why they wouldn't sell the truck with the hitch. If it was a 5th wheel I could understand that, but all trucks I have seen with gooseneck balls stayed with them.

 

I put a ball in my truck over a year ago, and guess what, I never used it.

 

I don't have the hitch for a 5th wheel, but I do have the bars it sits on. They came with the truck. No matter what I will be hauling, I am ready!

Thats it. ok i stand corrected. it just a ball. Would that be hard to take out of the bed. Only towing i would need a class IV receiver on back end which i think it has also.

 

It looks really nice. Trying to get them to give me a 2 yr(from when i purchase) /100K mile warranty. I average 25K a year so it should protect for 2 years.

I say if you can handle the gas bill go for it. That price is not bad for the truck. And you can look at it this way. It is an awsome investment now that GM no longer puts the 8.1 in their HDs.

I seen some people on here say the 8.1L is no more worse than a 6.0 on gas.

 

It has a smaller tank than my 04 4.8L w/t reg cab. 32 or33 galls.

Is there anyone on here that has access to GM system to pull the build sheets up on vehicles.

The 8.1 is worse by about 102mpg unloaded, but towing the 8.1 is usually better then the 6.0 because it isnt struggling. You should expect 8-10 city and 10-12 highway with that beast. I got a 1 year unlimited mileage warrranty when I bought mine included, but I dont think they had any that were much longer.
