Step Bars

After the body lift is complete, I plan on installing Westin nerf bars to help hide the frame and assist in entry. I have a black Z71, what is your opinion on the coating of the stainless bars, black or chrome?

It's alll in your own personal preference. Personally I like the chrome plated bars. I don't think the chrome shows the dust and dirt as easily as the black ones.

Either way, make sure the base metal is stainless (which I think you are doing). That way it doesn't matter if it is chrome plated or powder coated, rust won't be an issue. The bars that are on back-order for my truck are actually chrome plated aluminum. I love the looks of theses bars but the aluminum scares me a little because it is soft. Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see...

I also agree that it is really up to your personal taste. I got the black ones for my Indigo blue and I think they look great....But they do get dirty. (well, so does the truck). That just means I have to wash them

I'm going to get some black ones for my truck, but I've got a whole Red/Black color combo going for it. The only chrome on my truck is the bumpers and grille, so IMO black would look the best.

But, that's my truck, your truck will be different. Have any pictures?

I went with black bars on my Av because there is almost no other chrome on the truck. I've seen a number of trucks with chrome trim and chrome bars that look great.

When I had a Expedition, I put painted Lund boards on it and it looked OK. I now prefer bars.

I also agree it is up to your personal taste. I have chrome on my indigo blue truck. I have the the blue / chrome look going. the chrome plated bars and a stainless steel bug deflector. Either way I think they look good I just thought the chrome looks good with the darker colours. I do not think I would have put the chrome on my pewter coloured truck.
