Looks like some new competition in the diesel market-place. They plan on pricing them quite low and estimate to move 45,000 units in the 1st year of sales.

It looks like they took a very cut rate third world truck and tried sprucing it up enough to pass as an American truck. Wait that IS what they did. I read about it and the only place I think they will compete is fleet industry. Would anybody here pay for a loaded up one of those?

There is a truck trend article, and an Indian Television article. They even say that they have 240 dealers who are willing to try their product line. Maybe this will get the U.S. companies moving. It looks like they knocked off the styling of the 2004 and before Tacoma to me.

I wouldn't under-estimate them. The foreigners are way ahead of us in the small deisel engine market. Keep in mind the duramax is an Isuzu deisel. Don't get me wrong as I'm not saying I'm going to buy one, but the whole reason a lot of us don't buy a deisel truck over a gasser is the added cost. Sounds like they will be priced comparable to a 1/2 ton gasser.

 

GM needs to get that 1/2 ton deisel out in a hurry without the outrageous price tag and make sure it has the reliability of the duramax.

I can't imagine they'll sell very many by looking at it-it's gross! Just like the Tundra-great truck on paper, then when you see it, you run the other way. Why do you think Toyota is offering 0% and cash back now-they aren't selling them like they thought they would. It's hard to bust in the American truck market with a foreign make-especially when they are as ugly as they are.

All I can say is EW. We've got a Mahindra tractor that is really really good. I don't doubt the mechanicals, but the exterior is definately gross!

i remember reading in a magazine somewhere that GM is coming out with a 4.x liter diesel for the half ton trucks......hope its soon cuz i dont want to see too many of those ugly heaps on the road
