Tailgate Linkage

Well, the little green plastic clip broke on my tailgate latch linkage so I had to remove the handle bezel to get the tailgate open. Are these clips sold individually or do I have to buy the whole stinking assembly?

Edit: Has anyone ever ditched those plastic pieces of crap for a more permanent fix?

I currently own 4 GMT800 pickups and all are used for my business and not one has had the problem. When the latch gets sticky so it wont allow the TG to close its time to lubricate the latch system.

Try your local auto parts store, O'Reilly's, maybe? They are they same clips that are used in door handles to hold the rods. Sometimes there are different sizes, you may have to experiment with several sizes first. Or, try the dealer. They should not be more than about $2-3.

Yeah, O'reilly's or Napa! Didn't think of them. Thanks for the heads up!

I must have forgotten to hit add reply yesterday...

I've seen them as HELP! parts at Pep Boys....they were black though but marked for GM. Should be the same ones as used in the door handles of a lot of GM cars all these many years.

Your dealer will have them. I replaced both of mine. Very easy job. They run about 2-3 bucks a piece. The ones they gave me were pink but I'm sure the color doesn't matter. Put the clip through the hole in the handle first. Then put the actuator rod into the clip. Then rotate the clip up to lock it onto the actuator rod. Hope this helps.
