Sunvisors

I have a 2001 Silverado with the standard sunvisors. It's very aggravating that they do not telescope/extend to cover the entire width of the side window. Has anyone ever replaced these with telescoping sunvisors and with what?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

.....Doug.

Go to your local boneyard and get a pair out of a Suburban/Tahoe. Get the clips that they snap in to as well. Shouldn't be a big job and if you are a little crafty you can even fish a wire down the windshield post and hook up the lighted vanity mirrors. (if yours didn't already have em.)

Any idea what a set would cost at a boneyard?

You should be able to get something out of a recent model Sub or Tahoe for say 50 bucks a pair or less... with all of the clips screws etc. I don't know what part of the world you are in but Car-part.com has a good database of yards all over.

I love my local boneyards. Most people go to Bass Pro or Ebay when they get bored and want to buy something.

I go to my local Salvage yards :omg:

you'll want the visor's out of an LS/LT or GMC SLE/SLT. Most of the Suburban/Tahoes with LS/LT had lighted mirrors which have one different mounting point as those on the trucks.

I think everybody here is pointing you generally in the right direction.

Looked at my Dad's Suburban today and his truck. Burb is an LS 05 model and the truck is an LT excab 04 model. They both had the same visors with lights, pull out section, and the extra second visor. Even the same fabric and color. Not sure what difference you are talking about?

Obviously I agree that to be safe you could get a pair out of a truck as a first choice but being a base model you will probably have to use a self tapping screw to install the other clip. Depending on your fab skills this really should be no biggie!

Good luck!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, I guess the challenge is gonna be finding a set that are the right color and from an LT or SLT and in really decent shape.
