I have a 2002 GMC 2500hd. The Tow/Haul switch is not working. How can I replace the switch inside the shift lever? Do I need to disconnect the orange wire under the steering column to get the sucker out of the shifter? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks. :D

:rollin: Looks like I found the answer. According to the dealer today, The swiich is not sold separately. Either, I'll need to bye the entire shifter with the tow/haul switch embedded for about $ 100. Or Tap into the orange wire under the sterring column & mount a new fangled switch on the dash for about $5.

Have you checked the wires where the shifter goes into the sterring column? They're prone to break.

I've had to repair mine twice. The first time the wire was partially cut and the second it was cut completely in two.

So far, knock on wood, I haven't had any trouble with mine.

Now that I've said that though......

All fixed. The wire was starting to crack. I taped the orange wire & mounted a new switch on the dash.
