Hvac Backlit Buttons

04 silverado with dual zone auto HVAC. The defrost button below the heater display no longer is backlit. The little amber indicator still works to show that it's on, but you can't see the button display at night any longer. I assume this is a small LED. Has anyone ever replaced one of these, or know of a fix?

You have to replace the control head. I know, it sucks.

Many have success by taking them apart and soldering in new bulbs. I did mine.

asilverblazer, you don't happen to remember the bulb specs do you? Are these 12 volt incandescent or little LEDs? I assume the entire dash front surround is held by clips and removes by just pulling toward you to get at the radio and heater head?
