No Bottom End

I have a 94 c1500 with a 4.3 and am concerned about the lack of bottom end power. I have driven a lot of different trucks, but this one seems to have a lack of take off power. It goes great afterwards, almost like a power band. What could be the problem? The timing is right on and I have an open air cleaner also. Please help!!

The 4.3 is not a monster off of the line but it normally runs pretty well. What rear end gear do you have? If it's one of those with the 3.08 rear axle you will need a downhill start to take off... As I remember, those trucks came with 3.08 / 3.42 / 3.73 gears (maybe more?) with a 4.3 V6.

 

Obviously the 3.42 or 3.73 would be better off of the line.
