Yeah well the thought of the fact that in 2009 The new camaro will have a optional 650 hp engine assisted by supercharger thats going to be one fast car.

And how much did you pay for the burb? to think that if someone stole it and the luxury of being able to stop your vehicle before it gets destroyed or destroys someone is a relieving thought at least for me!

I think that's a good thing. Last I heard if my memory serves me right, there are 2000 people killed each year in police chases. 40% are innocent victims. And let's face it, with onstar they know where you are all the time. The first time I used turn by turn nav. for directions the person on the other end says "well sir I see you are at exit 15 on rte 91", I almost drove off the road.

The next step will be automatic tickets for driving 60 in a 55 or some nut job cracks the code, if they can turn it off then they can turn it on. The Social country of the the United States where everybody needs guidance and direction from their goverment to protect us from ourselves.....no thanks!

I'm all for the remote shut offs. Sure will be less expensive then the police using some type of device that will shoot under your vehicle and fry your electric system.

I know what you mean! When I activated the OnStar in my truck they told me I was in a white Chevrolet Silverado facing North on County Road 140. That was when I realized just how awesome OnStar was!

Maybe they will shut down your motor if you fall behind on the payments or refuse to buy an extended warranty. It should strictly be an option as some of us realize that computers make mistakes and it would suck if your car mistakenly stops as your driving through some public housing project. Sounds like something alot of people may want, but not me.

Well s**t! life isn't fair! It's just a matter of time before the other automakers have this feature as well. Just remove your On Star system from your vehicle and you will not need to worry about having this issue.

Sorry don't mean to sound rude or anything, but it just does not seem that any progress can be made without there being complaining about one thing or another...

Well remember the articles about adding black boxes to automotive's like airplanes? did they ever do that?

Yep.

They actually did this in the Escalade and Lincolns. Its only for when its in an accident though.

When it gets hit, it trips a sensor that measures impact force and determines speed on impact. There are a bunch of sensors in several locations all over the bumpers and side panels. This can be used to track accident history or determine if someone was speeding in a crash, among other things.

And I too think that the engine shutoff feature is a good Idea. Not only for the theft aspect, but also for the moron, or the dumb ass teenager driving mom and dads car that tries to escape the cops and ends up killing an innocent family.

I hope that if my truck gets stolen, I dont get it back. I want a new one, especially after some smelly criminal put his A double in my seat and took it all over who knows where. I would glady let my insturance get me a new truck. Just me. But I could careless if they can turn off my truck. THEY CAN UNLOCK OUR DOORS!!!!!! LOL
