2008 Gmc Sierra Ordering Guide

I'm seeking the information that a dealer uses when ordering a vehicle.

It appears KBB, Edmunds, and even the GMC/Sierra web sites offer only minimum options.

Any help would be appreciated.

As I stated in another post, most dealers in my area use:

GM AutoBook, Data Version 130.1 provided by Chrome Systems Corporation - a software subcontractor for GM.

The dealers gave me a multi-page printout some with just the MSRP with all options and some provided the MSRP and the Invoice prices.

No website that I have found including Chevrolet and GMC provide all the options available. Some such as MSN Autos, etc. just don't give enough of the total options and option combinations available.

One really has to go to a dealer that will provide one with a printout of what is available. Skip the dealers that ask: "What do you want?" and don't provide a computer generated printout.

It truely is difficult to obtain current correct information.

All dealers, as an example, stated that XM Satellite radio was not standard. I had to advise them that it is for 2008. None knew this.

I obtained all my information directly from GM before I went to the dealers. Every single dealer I visited had at least one item or one piece of information that was incorrect.

One really has to visit a few dealers just to obtain the correct option information.

It's so much easier to sell inventory off the lot as no one has to think too much as what you see is what you get. Ordering is a whole different ball of wax.

gmc.com or chevrolet.com

Then click "build-your-own"

What's so hard about that??

there you go, and if you want, print it and take it to the dealership and make him copy all of it...

Becuase it does not give ALL options. Case in point, it does not list the "Texas Edition", "Southwest Edition" as well as others.

Well I can see all of the options from GM's ordering bench, and yes you are correct, there are alot of options to choose from, but when you get down to it, packages make it a heck alot easier to work with, than choosing each individual option. The Texas Edition is really a specific set of options grouped together (20" wheels, 6.0, Rear Axle Ratio, etc) as are other packages.

As I stated above, yes, this is true. The GM site DOES NOT give all information/options. It certainly should, but it does not.

To give an idea, for the 2008 Silverado, there is 96 PAGES worth of options (equipment) that have to be chosen (or preselected), I dont know about you, but personally, I would rather stick with 3-5 pages worth of options, not 96.

I will agree that you may not want to see all options but you may want to know about certian things and what they include. I myself, ordered the "Texas Edition" just because I thought it would be "pretty cool" to have the options I wanted in a group and get the Texas Edition badges etc. You can order the same exact truck for the same price, less the Texas Edition badges and I think maybe 1 or 2 other niche items.

I did notice that if you select certian things on the GMC.COM website, the NFL edition shows up as an option though. Strange the NFL edition would show up but not the Texas or Southwest Editions??

Try this site out....GM ONLINE ORDER GUIDE

Click on "2008" then "cars/light trucks" under the ordering information, then click on "GMC"....then "Print Book",then select your model from the drop-down box and select what documents you want to see, then click on "Print" to see them (Don't worry it won't actually print anything out unless you hit your print button at the top)

Rich, that's exactly what I was looking for! It has all the detailed information the other sites are missing.

Thanks for your time and help.
