how would I go about putting a set of 6.5" components in the back pannels of my 99 silverado ext-cab where the 4x6's are..??

I'm thinking about puting 4 of these 6.5" Infinity Perfect 6.1 components in both front and rear in my truck..

what do ya guys think..??

You can buy equally good speakers for less if you shop the net. Crutchfield has Infinity Reference 6010cs with crossovers for 99 bucks. As far as putting them. If you aren't afraid of cutting metal I'd go for it. I'll cut a hole in anything myself. Cover the metal door shells with DynaMat or something like it and it should sound good when you are done.

Good luck!

I found them for a lil cheaper on ebay here --> LINK

do you know of any manuals or diagrams that would help me to do this modification properly..??

If I do cut the sheet metal in the rear pannels to make the 6.5's fit, what type of tools would i need to cut it with..??

And also where would the tweeters & crossovers fit as well..

and would the existing door panel covers fit back on, or would i have to modify them as well too, to get the full effect of the speaker without it being covered or obstucted at all.??

Many guys have done this, Not sure about the tweeters, but they're tweeters, they'll fit anywhere.

In the back...I wouldn't even hook them up.

well if all i do is cut the inner sheet metal for the new speaker to fit in the existing 4x6 hole, will the plastic cover still fit back on properly though with the new 6.5" speaker mounted in there..??

I'm pretty sure there is enough space behind the panel. The speaker is mounted in the door, and you'll have a lip on the metal of about 1/2" or less.

The opening in the panel for the 4X6 is going to cover some of the speakers cone, but it wont make any noticeable difference in sound quality.

I've heard of guys putting 6X9's back there and not cutting the plastic.
