Block Heater Cord

As it is getting closer and closer to colder weather, I am wondering how I am going to get the block heater cord out the front of the truck. On my last vehicle, it banged around all the time and did a number on the paint. Any of you guys have yours out, just like to know how you did it. I was thinking of sticking it out between the light and the front grill, near the bottom. Im gonna go out and check how this will work, and was wondering how anyone else has done it. :driving:

I haven't given it any thought yet on how I'm going to run my cord,I better get to it,Its starting to get cold!!

I haven't even unwrapped my cord yet :driving:

On all my other trucks I ran the cord/plug out through the grille, near the bowtie emblem,I don't think the plug will fit between the mesh in the grille on these NBS trucks though.

It took me and a buddy about 30 mins to even find the dam thing!!! Mine would definitely have to run underneath with my billet grill. But to be honest, I will probbaly never use mine since I have a nice warm garage and no available outlet at work. If I do ever use it, I will probably be able to run it through the air slot in my front bumper (see pic in sig).

Yea,Too be honest with you I haven't even found the end of the cord yet,Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I see it bundled up under the front of the oil pan?

In all my other trucks it was sitting on top of the driver's side frame rail with the plug end kinda' hanging down.

If you have a diesel I can understand, but is it really that important to plug in a gas engine? It's going to have to be d*mn cold before I'll even consider dealing with it. And in Fort Worth, it will never happen.

but is it really that important to plug in a gas engine?

Yes,Especially when its in the single digits outside.

Single digits here in January is "Balmy". Try starting a car that's been sitting outside in -25 F weather all day/night. No, it's always that cold here, but we usually get a couple of week long cold snaps where it gets that cold.

I've seen where a guy puta hole in the center of his front license plate with a recepticle in it. But that big rig style with the auto unplug is d**n nice.

I took this photo to show the damage after some inconsiderate clown pulled a hit and run on our new Suburban, but it also happens to show where I routed the block heater plug.

Not sure if the pickups are different, but on the Suburban it was easy to run it through the tow-hook slot in the front bumper. The rubber cap keeps it in place nicely, too.

Forgot to reply to this. They way you have it routed arzinet is perfect, and worked just the same on my silverado. My buddy is going to do it on his avalanche too. Thanks VERY much for the info!

One of the best products I've ever seen for a block heater plug is an Arctic Leash. I'm not a dealer nor any part of their company but do have one on my truck and swear by it. The reel mounts under the hood and is fantastic. You can check it out at http://www.arcticleash.com/. Mine is mounted so that it comes out the tow hook hole right beside the tow hook. I simply pull it out to the length I need, plug it in and then when I'm ready to go, unplug from the house, give a slight tug on the cord and the reel pulls it all back in without a problem. Works very well and I highly recommend it.

Like XTOAK, mine comes out by the tow hook, in fact the dealership here zip ties the plug end to the tow hook to make it easier to find. the arcticleash is a great product, I am hoping for one for christmas. one caveot on the arctic leash though, make sure you unplug it before you drive off, one of the guys i work with let his wife drive his truck, she forgot to unplug it and tore the whole arctic leash assembly off the truck.
