i have a 2004 sierra 5.3 with a k&n intake and the fan shroud is almost touching the elbow and im wanting to get a tB spacer...can i still put it on or will the fan hit the intake?..im getting one cuz ive had one on my 00 silverado and really liked the throttle response and i didnt mind the sound that much but the boys digged it lol...

Cut the fan shroud.

Bolt everything together, spin the fan around by hand,If it hits the fan, pull the spacer off and toss it in your junk room, you'll get the same performance gain if its sitting in there or on the truck anyway.

Look, if GM could add horsepower to their engines by bolting on a $1 piece of aluminum, they would. The fact that they don't should tell everyone interested, that these things are a scam.

If you get it you'll have a nice anodized paper weight...because thats about all their good for....

:uhoh: There is a simple fix to your problem...don't run a TB spacer. If John Force him self came over and told me TB spacers were the s**t and make great horse power, I still wouldnt run one. You must realize TB spacers are only lengthening the distance between the TB and the intake manifold....competely useless. Unless you have a carbed or a TBI, dont bother. You want air to get from mother nature to inside your combustion chamber as quickly, cold, clean, and smoothly as possible....some BS whirl wind creating TB spacer isn't going to help. Trust me theres many better ways to spend that money.

i had one on my 5.3 and really liked the difference...idk why but i must be the only one whose actually gotten their moneys worth for a TB spacer

Its the highly calibrated Butt dyno again. You noticed a diff cause you added something and your mind tricked you into thinking that you had more power.

I don't see how something, that is corkscrewed, and creates turbulence, the total opposite of a laminar flow (ideal condition) can add power. Its an obstruction in the flow into the engine.

Laminar flow means that the air all flows at the same speed, in the whole pipe.

Turbulent flow is when the air flow is being disrupted and caused to slow down in some spots and speed up at others.

The ideal condition for any fluid to flow is laminar. This is where you get the most amount of fluid reaching its destination, at the greatest speed and you get the most surface contact with the fluid at that given destination. This is basic Fluid Dynamics.

It is the basis for mandrel bent piping in CAI's and exhausts.

If you wish to speed the flow up, a venturi effect must be used, which is what the throat of the TB does.

im not gonna argue with sum1 who knows more about sumthing i barely know about man i was just saying i must be one in a million cuz i bought one from tntmotorsports off of ebay for my 2000 reg cab stepside silverado with a 5.3 and it did f**king wonders...it could be from what ur telling that TB spacers are s**t...but their are more then jus one type of TB spacer cut...theirs this cut which is the expensive paper weight... http://www.autoanything.com/air-intakes/60A1950A0A0.aspx ..and theirs this one which in my opion would work a whole lot better... http://www.autoanything.com/air-intakes/61A1851A0A0.aspx ...but when it all comes down to buying one...its an opinion more then anything i mean if u want to see if it works and if it doesnt satisfy u then take it back and get ur money back...jus tell that u never installed it and found sumthing better....i love this freaking site!! :uhoh::cheers:

I'd personally save the 106 it costs, put another 50 bucks with it and get a tune from someone like wait4me.

100 bucks for something that may, or may not give you 5hp tops...or 150 for something that gives you 20-30hp, 1-3 mpg increase, modified Torque management characteristics, increased Line pressure in your trans, modified shift points, and a whole host of other benefits.

This is about the cheapest and easiest way to totally and radically change the attitude of your truck.

We're all just trying to keep you from wasting your hard earned cash man, and get the best bang for your buck possible.

:uhoh: $150 to knock off over half a second easily in the 1/4 from your stock time....or $100 for a whistle sound.....I'd go with the tune!! You WILL feel the tune, you won't feel the TB spacer.
