Trailer Wiring Troubles

Recommended Posts

Through the process of elimination I've found it's not the trailer, not the adapter that takes it down to a 4 flat so it's the truck. The lights on the trailer that don't work are the drivers side turn and brake, the parking light on that side does. Does anyone know what wire(s) is causing the problem or is there a replacement part that could be used.

Thanks.

I had that problem on my 06. What I found was a blown fuse. The fuse that was blown was inside the panel on the side of the dash. Open the drivers door and look at the side of the dash. There is a trap door there. That is where my fuse was located. I believe it is the same on an 03, but I could be wrong.

My father's 03 does this too, he has fuses that blow in the engine bay's panel. His dealer wired it in after he bought the Drawtite hitch for it. My truck will tow his trailer no problems electrically. All lights work, his will have driverside blinker/brake/running lights and passenger running lights only.

I will tell him to check inside the cab if he hasn't already.

Thanks for the replies, I just talked to the service manager at my dealership and he confirmed this also...Thanks again bowler!

p.s. He also said there are also trailer fuses under the hood too so look both places.
