New Tahoe/yukon Hybrid Really Only Get.....

Hey guys - My wife currently drives an 04 Z71 Tahoe and we are really considering looking into the new Tahoe/Yukon Hybrid. But looking at them on the web - the say they are only going to get 20/20 MPG for gas milage. How can that be ?

We use hers every day to go back an forth to work mostly highway and we get 16.6.

I am not sure what the cost difference of the hybrid will be yet - but I am thinking its going to be up there - Im not sure the cost difference will make up for the 3 miles per gallon on our current Tahoe.

My buddy has an 07 Tahoe - and he says he gets 19 with his - so only 1 MPG difference with the Hybrid ??

Can this be right - or is GM being real conservative with their numbers for MPG - but that wouldnt make sense if they want us in them ???

Thoughts ??

Come-on the city cycle on a 3 ton Tahoe wont be over 16 mpg and if you can get 20 city where most people spend there time a 4 mpg improvement along with a 1 mpg HWY improvement is a lot for a big truck.

First, the numbers they have are also more realistic 2008 MPG estimates. Even though I've seen some reviews claiming up to 25mpg.

And in addition to the "Two-Mode" Hybrid features, you've still got an awesome gas guzzling 6.0l V8 under the hood, and a whole lot of weight to move around.

Basically, if you really want better mileage, don't buy a full-size SUV/Truck. :D

In general, Hybrids are in their element around town. If you do that type of driving they are great. There is probably little benefit to them on the highway which is why you see less of a difference between city/hwy numbers.

Of course here in California we let Hybrids with only one driver in HOV lanes on freeways with permits where these types of vehicles do little for the environment at those speeds ...go figure. :D
