88' K1500 Will Not Start...randomly

Hello,

I recently got another 88' chevy k1500 and it has decided to randomly not start. It just completely loses fire. I can't even get it to fire on starting fluid or gas. I have changed the distributor, coil, plugwires, plugs, and the cold start sensor. It has a aftermarket remotestart/alarm, my father thinks that is the problem, but I have completely unpluged the main computer part of this alarm, so i don't think it could be this, could it? He suggested I go thru and remove every inch of wire for the alarm...that is alot of wire and I don't want to do this( i am too lazy) If anyone has any suggestions I will definitly try it. I have two of these trucks so I can switch parts back and forth until I find the problem. As I said it randomly has no fire. It runs great and strong for a day or two then it won't get a spark for a day or two. I am lost and don't know what to check next. Thanks for any and all help and suggestion.

hey try the starter...that happened on my 96 5.7 and i had a viper remote start so im pretty sure its almost the same engine but that could be a place to start...or a place to continue lol hope this helped

^^I agree with GR06.

The only problems I ever had with starters were in my Camaro after I installed headers. The heat would get to it and seeze it, so if I ran it for awhile and made a quick stop it wouldn't fire up again. I'd have to let it sit for a few hours till it cooled down. However if I got a jump it would start, even though my battery and alternator were fine to begin with. I ended up getting a starter heat shield (boy was that ever fun to put on) and that seemed to help my problem although I'm sure a mini-starter would have been the cure.

Does the starter turn over but it doesn't fire? Check to see if the plugs are firing. Pull the air cleaner off, are you getting fuel?

If starter doesn't turn, check to see if you are getting power to the solenoid when the key is turned. this will tell you if it is starter or beforehand. (remote starter or key switch)

Well I finally got around to working on the truck again... it was the module on the distributor. Stupid me for not looking there in the begining
